MariaAlive:It's so old school that saying thanks to the 50's, 60's, 70's and even 80's. 'fashionizing' skinny/lean so it becomes the norm. but so many cultures love plump chubby women and it's considered taboo in some cultures to have a skinny wife
if only we'd have that luck
Sir Mix-alot made the famous "Baby Got Back" song that is - in many ways - a commentary on this. I'm American, so I can only speak for my country. But back in the day, Euro-centric beauty standards extolled a slim figure. Meanwhile, other cultures in my country (Black and Latino especially), preferred full-figured women.
Heck, the women in the "Baby Got Back" music video were supposed to be a lot bigger than the ones we got. But the powers that be made them get athletically built dancers instead.
It's wild.
